Short hike, recommend for beginners to intermediate hikers elevation gain isn't bad at all the hardest part is the start it gets pretty flat after. If you're coming from Snake Den RD make the left right at the sign by the entrance of the trail head and follow the blue trial. Once at the top you get a great view of the Wanaque reservoir and in the distance you can see NYC. Great little trail and very relaxing, don't forget to bring your snacks and to stay hydrated.
Don't follow Google map to the end. Park in the Weiss Nature parking area. Walk up the road (snake end) marked by green trail markers on the trees. At the top of the street is the entrance to the park. Follow the blue trail markers to the top...it'll take about 45min hike. It's a nice incline all the way up, but nothing crazy.
A moderate hike, climb a mountain get to the top, beautiful lookout and a steep way down.
Beautiful overlook of the Manhattan skyline. The weather was perfect on the day of my hike so I took my time marveling at the view. Totally worth all the climbing up to the mountain top.
Trails are marked well till the top. Once you reach the top after 2.3 miles of hike, you'll feel totally rewarded. It's one of the best views of New Jersey you can ever get ! Watch more on YouTube: Karma Rayshar
Don’t get lost in the woods! 😆 This was one of our most memorable hike’s, as we got lost within the woods ended up following multiple trails - white, green and blue to finally get to the summit. But trust me all the pain and sweat was worth viewing the Summit. If you have a clear day you can also see the NY skyline from the summit. I would like to do this hike once again to view the fall colors.
Great, competitive hike, though much snow and ice can remain even after several days of warm weather (hiked in March); many points during the hike can get incredibly slippery in these conditions! The views are breathtaking and absolutely worth the brief climb! The entire loop should take about 3 hours, and perhaps even faster with no snow or ice!
Amazing place to hike not far from the top and a 360 view from the top with NYC and jersey city skyline on a good day. Very little scramble just at the very top lots of rock but small ones.
