Wow… what an experience. At first, everything seems promising. You’re greeted with a smile, and they happily take your order with plenty of enthusiasm. It gives you the impression you’re about to have a great meal. Unfortunately, that’s where the good part ends. You grab your drinks, take a quick look at the receipt, and the disappointment begins. A 15% gratuity has been automatically added at a BBQ bus—with no mention, no warning, nothing. And just to be clear, this was for two grown adults ordering at a window, who drop cash in a tip jar! Then the food finally comes out, and things really start to fall apart. The BBQ itself was dry and lacking flavor, which is already a letdown. To make matters worse, the portions were skimpy for a $20 plate. When you’re paying that much, you expect a plate that at least feels worth it. The potato “mustard” salad was completely overpowered by mustard. Every bite was so strong it was hard to tell if the potatoes were coated in it or practically swimming in it. And the mac and cheese—something you’d think any BBQ spot would absolutely nail—was a huge miss. It tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a day straight, like something you’d find spinning next to a gas station hotdog roller. Overall, what started with a friendly greeting ended in a pretty disappointing experience. Definitely not the BBQ stop we were hoping for.
Barefoot BBQ in Seaside is one of those places that reminds you why people fall in love with 30A in the first place. Laid back, welcoming, and full of flavor, it delivers an authentic coastal barbecue experience right in the heart of Seaside. The smell alone pulls you in, and once you’re there, it only gets better. The barbecue is outstanding across the board. Tender smoked meats, rich sauces, and portions that hit the spot whether you’re coming straight from the beach or settling in for a relaxed dinner. But the real standout, without exaggeration, is the Bushwhacker. Hands down the best Bushwhacker I have ever had anywhere. Perfectly blended, smooth, and dangerously good. It is worth the stop all by itself. The outdoor seating and Seaside location make it a must visit for both locals and visitors. As a broker with Sotheby’s, this is exactly the kind of local spot I love pointing out. Places like Barefoot BBQ are part of what makes Seaside so special. If you are looking for great barbecue in Seaside, an unforgettable Bushwhacker, and a true 30A local experience, Barefoot BBQ absolutely delivers. Highly recommended.
Customer service was wonderful. Ladies were so friendly! I’m from KC and I can say the food here is quality BBQ! Sauces were great too. Will come back.
Only went here because the mac n cheese looked really good, and to my surprise, it was like the mac n cheese that has shells in cheese (I forgot the name) and the seasoning on-top was perfect for the creamy mac n cheese. Also, the service was great! Very friendly staff here! Oh and also, I have to give props to the sandal number wait thing, it is very unique! Unfortunately, I will not be coming back due to the high prices.
Amazing place, amazing food and owner was great to meet and chat with. And he was even from Nebraska. If you are in the area don’t forget to stop in for food and a Bushwacker. We will definitely be back.
I’m from Kansas City and used to Kansas City BBQ. This was definitely not it but really good. Wife and I had the brisket nachos. The portions were good with good flavor. Was not real bbq brisket but more like roast but very good nonetheless. I would say picture good beachside bbq with good portions of cheese and toppings and you won’t be far off. The atmosphere was great with lots to do in the area. I will definitely be back to try more options.
Most reasonably priced & best-tasting BBQ in the area! I called in and placed my order for takeout. They were very friendly (both on the phone and in person) and my order was ready exactly when they said it would be. The meat on both the pulled Chicken and Beef Brisket Sandwiches we got was tender and juicy - no part of our orders was dry. The Mac & Cheese was excellent and although the Baked Beans were a bit spicy to me, the bits of meat included within it still made it quite good. The price paid for a sandwich platter is the best around, especially considering the amount of food and number of sides included. In fact, other members of our family went a few days later because they kept wanting to eat our meals themselves!
To start off, if you want to visit this food truck, walk there. Parking is near impossible. For our excursion, I stayed in the car and my loving girlfriend walked to grab the food. Must have been quick service as she arrived 10 minutes later. The guy running the cash register was funny and really engaging which is always appreciated. I got PB and I standard bbq sandwiches with two sides. I got the baked beans and potato salad and PB got the baked beans and mac and cheese. The baked beans were a bit different, but acceptable and the potato salad was so so delicious. PB LOVED the mac and cheese (so creamy and amazing) so would recommend these sides to all. The sandwiches were good - the pork was beautifully tender and you can tell they know their stuff when it comes to prepping bbq meat. The hot lava sauce wasn't that hot (maybe we are just hipster elitists now with levels of hot, but Nashville can do that you). The flavor was incredibly good though, so you can consume a lot of it and at least for us, not have your night be ruined. It was a bit pricey for what you got, but we are also used to Nashville pricing and you are paying that premium in Seaside.
