If you are looking for authentic Salvadorian food, this isn’t it. The plantains were not ready or ripe yet and cut thick which parts did not cook all the way through. The pupusas were not cooked all the way through and they blamed it on the cheese. Lemonade was $5 and isn’t even natural. The pictures and decor is nice along with the music.
My experience at this place was very disappointing. The chips were stale, and the lemonade they advertise as “fresh” clearly wasn’t. I ordered pupusas, but they came out half cooked. The masa was still undercooked, so I couldn’t even eat them. When I told the waitress the masa wasn’t fully cooked, she said that’s just how they make them, until the masa “fluffs up.” She didn’t offer to put them back on the grill or fix the issue. I ended up leaving the food there. I still paid for it, but I will never return. When I order pupusas, I want to taste the flavor of the filling, not undercooked masa. I should of drove to pasadena instead.
The pupusas were good but I don’t think I would come again to pay $30 for 4 pupusas and 1 horchata and 1 sprite.
Happened to be in the area and stumbled upon this authentic Salvadoran gem! El Tunco Pupuseria truly surprised me. The food was amazing ,full of flavor, fresh, and the portions were huge, definitely worth the price. The restaurant has a cozy, home-like vibe that makes you feel comfortable right away. Highly recommended, this spot is absolutely worth stopping by!
If you’re searching for authentic Salvadoran and Mexican food in Humble, TX, El Tunco Pupuseria is the place to go! From the moment we walked in, the owner (who is both Salvadoran and Mexican) welcomed us with genuine warmth and hospitality, making the whole experience feel like home. The food was absolutely delicious: 🐟 The whole fried fish was cooked perfectly — crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. 🥟 The pupusas were handmade, fresh, and full of flavor. 🍌 The plátanos with beans and cream were the perfect sweet and savory combination. 🥭 And the fresh maracuyá (passion fruit) juice was refreshing and unique. Everything tasted homemade and authentic, and the service was friendly and fast. If you’re in Humble or Houston and looking for the best Salvadoran and Mexican restaurant near you, this pupuseria is a must-visit. Highly recommend!
Grabbed some pupusas for lunch and glad I finally got to try them. Everything was made fresh and delicious. The chicharrón had an amazing flavor and the salsa was extra spicy 🔥. Plantains were to die for. 10/10 will return again.
Tried this place a while back and it was Delicious. We stay across town and definitely stop by every chance we can. Pupusas are the best I have tasted….. ever. Tortillas are hand made and are always served hot. Anything you pick from their menu is the right choice. I had a breakfast plate, the meal came hot and at a very generous portion. Prices are beyond reasonable. You will not be disappointed!! You will also be here more than once!!
Another amazing Salvadorean restaurant. Pupusas are full of flavor, a lot of cheese, and chicharon. 100% recommended 👌. I was amazed by Mr. Leopoldo live singing music. By the way he's in this restaurant Saturday and Sunday. Service was amable and attentive. Thank you!
