Went for Mothers Day with my mom, did a lot of research the night before weighing out which handroll spot is worth my money between 3 different spots in DFW and finally decided to come. However, I was VERY disappointed that they didnt several things on the menu which were the main reasons i decided come here in the first place. It didnt make sense to not have ingredients prepared for a day like Mothers day. Also we were a bit disappointed that the handrolls were sort of plain for prices averaging $6. The fish all tasted very good and fresh tho! I tried to make the most of it and ordered a few handrolls and salmon belly nigiris (super delish!) Our Chef wasnt very engaging or seemed very happy while we were dining.. It just felt kind of awkward and made me want to kind of get outta there honestly. [I WAS filming, so mayyyybe he felt awkward] But according to my mom- when i went to the restroom the Chef made small talk with her and told how lucky she is for her daughter(me) to bring her to such a nice place for Mothers Day, and that he hope she enjoyed the dining experience. Lol My mom was a bit disappointed but i guess that last convo kinda made up for it lol. I do think this is a nice spot, will have to come try when the full menu is available. If you’re looking for a place that truly lives up to the hype, Hatsuyuki Handroll Bar is it. I first discovered them a few years ago at their Fort Worth location, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Back when my husband and I were still dating, we would happily wait 30 minutes to an hour just for a seat, and honestly, we still do that now at their Frisco location. It’s become one of those spots we keep coming back to without hesitation. The experience is always consistent in the best way, and still shows over the years. The chefs are incredibly kind and welcoming, always serving with a genuine smile, and the service overall feels attentive without being overbearing. You can tell there’s real care in both the food and the atmosphere. The food itself is just impeccable. If it’s your first time, I highly recommend starting with the handroll set, either the 4 or 5 count. You also can’t go wrong with the salmon belly nigiri, hamachili, ama ebi, uni plus, or the yume handroll. Every bite feels thoughtfully made and honestly just makes you smile, feel free to explore their dishes on the menu board! Having tried omakase at quite a few places, I can say Hatsuyuki truly stands out. It offers that intimate, elevated dining experience while still feeling fairly priced for what you get. Locals recommended this venue. The sushi and handrolls are excellent. The chefs are Korean, not that it necessarily matters, but wanted to note that. Size and value were good. Fish was fresh. The handroll with the crunchy shrimp was my favorite. There is wine, beer, sake, and whiskey, so there is a good selection. Seating by the bar was fast and easy. Will gladly return.
