Went for Mothers Day with my mom, did a lot of research the night before weighing out which handroll spot is worth my money between 3 different spots in DFW and finally decided to come. However, I was VERY disappointed that they didnt several things on the menu which were the main reasons i decided come here in the first place. It didnt make sense to not have ingredients prepared for a day like Mothers day. Also we were a bit disappointed that the handrolls were sort of plain for prices averaging $6. The fish all tasted very good and fresh tho! I tried to make the most of it and ordered a few handrolls and salmon belly nigiris (super delish!) Our Chef wasnt very engaging or seemed very happy while we were dining.. It just felt kind of awkward and made me want to kind of get outta there honestly. [I WAS filming, so mayyyybe he felt awkward] But according to my mom- when i went to the restroom the Chef made small talk with her and told how lucky she is for her daughter(me) to bring her to such a nice place for Mothers Day, and that he hope she enjoyed the dining experience. Lol My mom was a bit disappointed but i guess that last convo kinda made up for it lol. I do think this is a nice spot, will have to come try when the full menu is available. Also, the Servers and Hosts were vey nice and friendly! ✨️FOLLOW ✨️ for detailed honest reviews on Instagram & Tiktok >> @lifeas.glo
If you’re looking for a place that truly lives up to the hype, Hatsuyuki Handroll Bar is it. I first discovered them a few years ago at their Fort Worth location, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Back when my husband and I were still dating, we would happily wait 30 minutes to an hour just for a seat, and honestly, we still do that now at their Frisco location. It’s become one of those spots we keep coming back to without hesitation. The experience is always consistent in the best way, and still shows over the years. The chefs are incredibly kind and welcoming, always serving with a genuine smile, and the service overall feels attentive without being overbearing. You can tell there’s real care in both the food and the atmosphere. The food itself is just impeccable. If it’s your first time, I highly recommend starting with the handroll set, either the 4 or 5 count. You also can’t go wrong with the salmon belly nigiri, hamachili, ama ebi, uni plus, or the yume handroll. Every bite feels thoughtfully made and honestly just makes you smile, feel free to explore their dishes on the menu board! Having tried omakase at quite a few places, I can say Hatsuyuki truly stands out. It offers that intimate, elevated dining experience while still feeling fairly priced for what you get. It absolutely deserves the recognition it’s been getting, including being named one of Yelp’s top places to eat in 2025. (Photos from Ft.Worth & Frisco locations)
Locals recommended this venue. The sushi and handrolls are excellent. The chefs are Korean, not that it necessarily matters, but wanted to note that. Size and value were good. Fish was fresh. The handroll with the crunchy shrimp was my favorite. There is wine, beer, sake, and whiskey, so there is a good selection. Seating by the bar was fast and easy. Will gladly return.
Absolutely amazing place and the best kept secret in Dallas burbs! We live in San Francisco (and I’ve gone to Japan 2x in the past year) and this is hands the best for quality relative to value. Despite the name, the menu has way more than hand rolls and the sushi pieces are all exceptional and at affordable price points (as low as $3.85 per piece!). Each piece has special garnishing, torching etc. and is delicious; the rice is warm which makes a difference. You can essentially construct a custom omakase menu. No reservations so get there early and wait for counter seating over tables - it’s worth it!! Attaching pics of the menu and what we ordered vs what I would do next time. Don’t order any sides or hand rolls at the start - just get sushi pieces then you can repeat ones you like or then choose to fill up on hand rolls. Ambience and service are great (they’ll serve you drinks while you wait). Some of my faves: - Cherry blossom kanpachi - Anything seared - engawa, black cod, salmon belly (request this one seared) - Scallop was amazing - not the typically piece of scallop on rice, but actually seasoned and citrus-y - Chutoro was standout, liked it more than otoro Enjoy!!
The Fort Worth location has always been my go-to spot, but since one recently opened near my home, I decided to give it a try. I’m so glad I did! The food was amazing as always, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend.
Highly recommend arriving right when they open if you want to avoid waiting. I arrived around 5pm on a Saturday evening, which is their dinner opening time, and was seated right away with no wait at all. By the time I finished eating around 6 to 6:30pm, there was already a line. The food quality is excellent, especially for the price. It is very worth it. I strongly recommend sitting at the bar so you can enjoy your food as it comes out piece by piece while watching the chef prepare everything. It makes the experience much more enjoyable. You really cannot go wrong with anything on the Today’s Specials menu. I enjoyed almost everything I ordered. The only items I probably would not order again are the kanpachi and uni, not because they were bad, just personal preference. I attached my receipt for anyone looking for ordering ideas. I would recommend ordering a variety from the daily specials and then adding a hand roll combo depending on how hungry you are. Overall a great experience and I would definitely come back!!
I have been back twice! The service is amazing and the fish is so fresh. I never knew handrolls could taste like this. The prices are reasonable but they do add up quick. My favorite pieces were the scallop handroll and snow crab handroll. The pacing and timing of the food was great too. Will bring back some friends
This may have been the best seafood I've had ever definitely the best I've had in Dallas. A nice chic place with a very New York kind of vibe me and my girl say in the bar area to watch everything be made. Our host sat us and pointed out our Chef who cooked almost exclusively for us, which felt very bougie. The service was top notch hardly even waited between our hand rolls and sashimi. We ordered: a Miso soup to start, then had the Salmon belly, Kan panchili, Scallop chopped turo, Akami<w/black garlic, Bluefin Tuna. Followed by 5 hand rolls: the Yellow Tail, Bay Scallop, Crab, Salmon, and Lobster rolls. 10/10 definitely recommend!
