The quantity of the food was not worth the price at all. The appetizers looked like tasting samples, we received only about one spoonful each of yogurt, Zeytoon Parvardeh, and Mirza Ghasemi, which was honestly ridiculous. The main course was also way too small to satisfy even one person. The entire meal was worth $20 at most, but our bill came out to around $80. The menu was very limited, and the dishes only looked like Northern Iranian food, they were far from authentic. I don’t recommend it at all.
Wow what a unique and wonderful place. Don’t come here expecting the usual round up of middle eastern dishes you can get in any SF neighborhood. It is traditional but approachable Persian food, and absolutely delicious. Highly recc bring a few friends and doing a dips platter and all the rotating special entrees that evening. Save room for the baklava and ice cream, I now understand what baklava is supposed to taste like and doubt I will ever be satisfied again. 90% of their wine list was completely new to me and it’s worth coming here for that alone. They offer a few flights so you don’t have to pick just one. Try the persimmon fruit wine. Places like this are why I continue to love living near SF.
Went to Komaaj with two friends, and we all loved the food, settings, and service. The hostess was super helpful and friendly - giving great suggestions about the menu and answering all our questions. The food was absolutely delicious! We had the appetizer combination- great to try a lot of the different appetizers, then we had one of each of the entrees so we could all share and try everything. We loved all of them. Very tasty Iranian beer too! Finally we tried the yogurt dessert, which the hostess mentioned it was a “400 year old recipe”. Great too! We even bought some extra to take home.
