4 years agoWas so excited to see Puerto Rican food in Gainesville! I tried the fried potato ball with ground beef and the mofongo topped with a mountain of roast pork. Both were DELICIOUS!! Now I'm hooked will definitely be back!

4 years agoThe food taste amazing! However costumer service is close to non existent. Also, we asked for a specific type of fish and charged us for it and gave us the wrong dish. :( The food can be amazing,but if your costumer service is bad...people won't go again. Also, please, mofongo is made with plantain. I think yuca mofongo is misleading since it doesn't contain plantain in it... Just call it what it is...yuca Al ajillo 🥴

4 years agoYou absolutely must try this incredible Puerto Rican counter-style restaurant that is without a doubt the best food option in the Oaks Mall. Everything is homemade, delicious, and genuinely authentic. The owner is extremely friendly and so happy to be sharing her family's amazing recipes. This visit I had the wonderful roast pork, pigeon peas and rice, yucca with mojo and a meat filled yucca fritter with their special house sauce. I have now found my new favorite Gainesville Caribbean restaurant!

4 years agoEvery time I crave mofongo, I could never find a place in Gainesville when I googled it. FINALLY, one day on Facebook, I came across Old San Juan Latin Bakery. I ordered the seafood mofongo and two empanadas. They make their mofongo to order-quality. I am very pleased and will ordered again!

4 years agoBefore moving to Gainesville a couple of months ago I have visited frequently this place until now. Quality of food is super good, better than “Mi Apá”, better than “El punto”. The staff are super friendly and very helpful. For those who doesn’t know about Puerto Rican food here they will give samples to try out and give you recommended plates and combos. Real authentic food where the Mofongo is done the traditional way with the Pilón and can hear the smashing in the food court. There’s a little bit of wait but super worth it, because they are super on top of their A-Game with cleanness and freshness. Never had before a “frozen” food like some people has been commenting here. This food really reminds me back home, for those who doesn’t cook and want to have quality food that fills you up and can take home come here.

5 years agoI have tried to eat here twice. Both times I gave up in disgust because of how poorly run this store was. Remember the time you first watched Zootopia? Remember the scene at the DMV with the sloths? The sloth represents the lady at the front. Her true calling is to work at the DMV with how slow she works. To be honest, I have no idea how the food tastes; however, I can tell you that it's not worth the wait.

5 years agoI chose Old San Juan Bakery express for a taste of a little something different as a Thursday night family meal. I ordered a little taste of their most popular dishes that were available. The pastelon, onion sautéed cube steak, tripleta sandwich, and fried pork were all pretty good. Nice flavors, textures, seasoned well. I found the mofungo a little dry and just not to my taste. The dessert quesito pastry was wonderful, light, fluffly like a delicious pillow...not too sweet but just rigjt. Comparing against the other Cohoes at the mall, I'd eat here again if i found myself in the food court.
