This place reminds me of a small spot in PR called pizza city on Isla Verde Ave. The food, When made fresh and made to order , brings me back to PR . The alcapurias HIT.. The Mofongo de Carne Frita.. Slaps! But.. When it's not fresh , I felt like I was eating leftovers from home. I've gone on numerous occasions, so I'm mixed on an overall rating. I def remember the server from previously being at a small pizza joint on myrtle that was short lived as well. Owner def a nice guy , I believe they are family. Great family feeling BUT if u have to wait, its gonna be atleast 20 min and they need more staff.. downside..the place only seems to be open when they feel like it bc I've been there various days and times and it's a hit and miss. Monday's you are usually out of luck. They dnt have a phone and u have to wait, so..to each his own. Overall good. Could be great with some more effort in the business overall.
Took a drive out to to Sazon after running some errands with my wife and son. Nice small little place. Had some nostalgia with the boom box playing Spanish music remember reminiscing of my childhood hood. The owners are amazing . Me and my wife got to speak with them a bit after eating. They are such amazing people I love their vibe and hospitality. Ok food was 😋 delicious. I honestly haven’t had good PR food in a long time. I can cook a little but mannnnn I ate every bite!!! We started with the Alcapurrias one of yuca and the other guineo. I forgot to take a picture I went straight in for it. I didn’t wanna share but I did. The masa and ground beef seasoned to perfection. I wish I had ordered some to go. Crispy outside and moist inside with seasoned ground beef. My main course was the mofongo witch chicken. The monfongo wasn’t dried out or hard. Great mashed texture. Chicken and broth cover the mofongo. Chicken was seasoned and cook well. Got warm and cozy while eating it was perfect for the cold weather we are having. My wife had the white rice and pork chops she didn’t share with me. Her and the baby were tearing it up. She love that garlic flavor on the pork chops. I washed it down with a KOLA champagne, that was my second one as you can see in the picture. My wife had the lemonade she said that was refreshing and good the baby approved also he kept drinking it she had to take it and give him apple juice cuz he would have finished it on her lol. We also ordered arroz con gandules and pernil to take home. We shall definitely be back to this place for more real good home cooked Puerto Rican food.
The service is amazing everyone is so welcoming and sweet! The food is even better if you are boricua you’ll literally feel right at home! Made me feel like I was in my welas kitchen 😭🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷 definitely coming back !
This spot delivers food good enough to create loyal customers. The cooking here is solid. The restaurant provides quality produce, tasty seasonings, reasonable costs, and kind staff. The workers are so friendly that their attitudes add enjoyment. REALLY REMARKABLE.
Didn’t have a lot of options. Don’t have any traditional Puerto Rican food. The customer service was great. It was a cute location very clean. It’s pricey & look @ I the presentation. Very disappointed 😔
The food was amazing!! The serving is very generous and you feel like you’re eating a home cooked meal! Definitely met my standards! Had to support my people, thank you for the great service.
From the moment we stepped into Sazon Boricua, it felt like we had been transported straight to the heart of Puerto Rico, right in the middle of Ridgewood. The smell of freshly cooked rice, savory beans, and perfectly fried meat welcomed us like an embrace. The warmth of the owners? O sea, it was the kind of hospitality that makes you feel like you just walked into a family reunion. La comida—¡qué decir de la comida! It was pure Puerto Rican comfort food at its finest. We started with the classic arroz blanco and habichuelas—the rice was fluffy, perfectly cooked, and the beans had that perfect balance of sweetness and savory goodness, just like abuela makes it. Then came the carne frita—crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. It had that crunchy, golden perfection that just hits different. The chicharrón de pollo was another level—crispy, crunchy, and full of flavor. Each bite was like a mini celebration of everything Puerto Rican cooking stands for: bold, flavorful, and straight-up comforting. But it wasn’t just about the food—it was the whole vibe. The owners, los jefes of this culinary paradise, made us feel like we were part of their familia. They greeted us with open arms, shared stories, and treated us like we were guests at their abuela’s house. And if you’ve ever been to a Puerto Rican grandma's kitchen, you know that’s the ultimate sign of love. 😌❤️ The best part? The food transported me back to Puerto Rico—every bite, every flavor, took me straight to the island. It wasn’t just a meal, it was a full-on trip down memory lane. I could almost hear the sounds of the coquí at night and feel the warm Puerto Rican breeze. It felt like a little piece of Puerto Rico right here in Ridgewood. In this little corner of Ridgewood, Sazon Boricua isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a celebration of la cultura, de la familia, y del corazón. Every dish served is a labor of love, and it shows in the way each bite takes you closer to Puerto Rico. Here, you're not just a customer; you're part of the familia, and the food feels like a warm hug. No lo pienses más, if you haven’t been, Sazon Boricua is calling your name. And trust me, when you walk out, you’ll leave with your belly full, your heart happy, and your soul a little more Puerto Rican. 😎✌️
The food is delicious and the owners are awesome and like family! I definitely recommend this spot for delicious and amazing Puerto Rican food. The food is made to order and fresh. 🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷
