Stop thinking about trying this little gem! This is the first time I've had their food and it is flavorful, comforting, generous, all the things! I had the smothered chicken and was worried about it being dry, but not one dry bite. The hubby had the smothered ribs (drool), also amazing. Let's support these locals by showing some love!
This was a very disappointing experience, especially considering we spent over $80. The food across the board was below standard. The rice was bland and heavy, the smothered pork chops looked and tasted like they had been sitting for a while, and the gravy was thin and oily with little flavor. The mac and cheese was basic, the green beans tasted canned, and the yams lacked balance. The peach cobbler was especially poor—dry, crumbly topping with small, mushy peaches that tasted like low-quality canned filling. Service made things worse. The owner/staff came across as rushed and somewhat arrogant. While we were ordering, he made comments about needing to “get people out,” even though there was only one customer behind us. He also talked about how long he’s been in business and his remodeling work, which felt unnecessary and unprofessional. I will say, another staff member who came from the back was very kind, attentive, and took the time to properly pack our drinks. That level of service stood out in a good way. I only wish the owner took notes from him on how to treat customers. For the price, this experience did not meet expectations at all. There is significant room for improvement in both food quality and customer service. I would not return unless major changes are made.
Today we decided to take our 77 Ford out for a spin into Angleton from Cypress to eat the oxtails I saw on TikTok and boy were they worth the drive! Not only was the food amazing but Mr Charles the owner and the other gentlemen, I didn’t catch his name, were super nice and welcoming🙏. I got the Smothered Chicken which was super delicious but ate dang near half of my husbands oxtails LoL! Had to get a to go plate and will definitely be back. Oh also the Corn bread muffins were so soft warm and delicious and the peach cobbler is perfect if you want something sweet after your meal😊So if you’re looking for some great soul food please come check out this spot it will not dissapoint😍
