a month agoStop thinking about trying this little gem! This is the first time I've had their food and it is flavorful, comforting, generous, all the things! I had the smothered chicken and was worried about it being dry, but not one dry bite. The hubby had the smothered ribs (drool), also amazing. Let's support these locals by showing some love!

a month agoThis was a very disappointing experience, especially considering we spent over $80. The food across the board was below standard. The rice was bland and heavy, the smothered pork chops looked and tasted like they had been sitting for a while, and the gravy was thin and oily with little flavor. The mac and cheese was basic, the green beans tasted canned, and the yams lacked balance. The peach cobbler was especially poor—dry, crumbly topping with small, mushy peaches that tasted like low-quality canned filling. Service made things worse. The owner/staff came across as rushed and somewhat arrogant. While we were ordering, he made comments about needing to “get people out,” even though there was only one customer behind us. He also talked about how long he’s been in business and his remodeling work, which felt unnecessary and unprofessional. I will say, another staff member who came from the back was very kind, attentive, and took the time to properly pack our drinks. That level of service stood out in a good way. I only wish the owner took notes from him on how to treat customers. For the price, this experience did not meet expectations at all. There is significant room for improvement in both food quality and customer service. I would not return unless major changes are made.

2 months agoToday we decided to take our 77 Ford out for a spin into Angleton from Cypress to eat the oxtails I saw on TikTok and boy were they worth the drive! Not only was the food amazing but Mr Charles the owner and the other gentlemen, I didn’t catch his name, were super nice and welcoming🙏. I got the Smothered Chicken which was super delicious but ate dang near half of my husbands oxtails LoL! Had to get a to go plate and will definitely be back. Oh also the Corn bread muffins were so soft warm and delicious and the peach cobbler is perfect if you want something sweet after your meal😊So if you’re looking for some great soul food please come check out this spot it will not dissapoint😍

4 months agoNot sure if you can order off a menu, my order can off a "steam table" and it was Hot, Fresh, and DELICIOUS! Everyone dining in look as though they were enjoying their meal. As did I,enjoy my Takeout order. I will definitely revisit this establishment. Highly recommend it and appreciate the staff.

5 months agoI've enjoyed this restaurant for dine in with family and take out. Love the oxtail dinner and recently enjoyed the smothered pork chops. Everything on the menu taste good with a down home - Sunday after church dinner feel. And there have desserts ‼️😋

7 months agoI had the smothered chicken, with Mac and cheese and greens (Order accuracy was not 100% I ordered yams but they were replaced with greens). The chicken tastes fine and fell right off the bone. The rice was flooded. I was really disappointed with the Mac and cheese which lacked in flavor. My husband had the pork chops with greens and mashed potatoes. He and said the chops were dry inside and he was disappointed with the instant mashed potatoes. We also tried the peach cobbler, but it was almost inedible with the amount of seasoning in it. The cobbler had a very strong clove or star of anise flavor to the point it tasted medicinal. Over all giving 3 stars thanks to the customer service. Not sure I’d recommend though.

a year agoStopped lunch for when i was in the area. Ordered the ribs. 3 ribs served on rice and 2 sides. Nicely flavored and not over powering. Place was clean and quiet with easy parking in front. Price point for ribs was on the high side hence dropping it a star.

a year agoLET ME TELL YOU!! If you haven’t stopped in for a homemade plate of wholesome goodness, you are missing out! Being from Mississippi, I truly miss our amazing soul food and “Simple & Delicious Soul Food” definitely hit the spot! Located just across from the Brazoria County Annex on Hwy. 35 in Angleton. I had the smothered pork chops, mustard greens, and candied yums. The meat was seasoned just right and moist, the mustard greens were perfectly cooked and the yams hit the spot. My husband had the smothered short ribs and it was so good!! BUT THAT PEACH COBBLER WAS 🔥🔥🔥 Both meals came with a drink and was enough for us to share. We will definitely be back. ✨Highly recommend! Attached is the receipt- you pay for what you get! Great quality food and amazing service. 💕 Thank you Charles, NiNi & TEAM!!
