See All ReviewsI stopped in for breakfast while staying in Tuscola on a business trip. The Star 57 Diner was pretty much what I expected from the photos, although I wasn’t quite prepared to be greeted by Elvis right inside the door. I originally assumed the name referred to nearby Route 57, but after looking around, it might also be about the age of the customers. I fit right in by ordering the senior special: a two-egg cheese omelet with hash browns and whole wheat toast. At only $8, it was a great deal. The omelet was genuinely delicious, and the service was excellent. The toast was perfectly fine. The hash browns, however, were brown on the outside, but undercooked inside and needed salt. I also had a bottomless decaf coffee for $2. It was on the weak side but still a good value. Overall, aside from the hash browns, I enjoyed my breakfast and the overall experience. If you are in Tuscola and appreciate classic diner charm with local patrons, it is worth a stop.
Food was mehhh ... came out cold and didnt look fresh. After eating i went to use the bathroom and right at the door is a sign saying "clean up of vomiting and diarrheal events" ... never seen that before EVER in an establishment. Sounds safe ... not lol. Now im worried 🤣 More than likely won't choose this place again. Not to mention their toilet SEATS dont even fit their toilets. I felt like a toddler lol.
This was our first time going here so we didn’t really know what to order. Our waitress gave us some recommendations so we tried all of her recommendations. We had the 57 pasta, the chicken Alfredo, the Philly, and the Sundae waffle. Tonight’s special was Salisbury steak so we got that to go for our family at home. We also got the breakfast shoe which I think was our favorite thing! We noticed they have a breakfast buffet on Saturdays and Sundays and we are so tempered to make the drive to try it out because tonight’s food and service were so good. Their bathroom was clean and smelled amazing. The atmosphere was clean and comfortable. They also have a pie and cake case with European cakes so we had to try those too! The price point was incredible and even my kids couldn’t believe the great prices. I can’t say enough how much we enjoyed the staff here who were on top of it and helped each other and made us feel so comfortable. The food came out fast and the portions were huge! This is now one of our favs!!!
