I stopped in for breakfast while staying in Tuscola on a business trip. The Star 57 Diner was pretty much what I expected from the photos, although I wasn’t quite prepared to be greeted by Elvis right inside the door. I originally assumed the name referred to nearby Route 57, but after looking around, it might also be about the age of the customers. I fit right in by ordering the senior special: a two-egg cheese omelet with hash browns and whole wheat toast. At only $8, it was a great deal. The omelet was genuinely delicious, and the service was excellent. The toast was perfectly fine. The hash browns, however, were brown on the outside, but undercooked inside and needed salt. I also had a bottomless decaf coffee for $2. It was on the weak side but still a good value. Overall, aside from the hash browns, I enjoyed my breakfast and the overall experience. If you are in Tuscola and appreciate classic diner charm with local patrons, it is worth a stop.
Food was mehhh ... came out cold and didnt look fresh. After eating i went to use the bathroom and right at the door is a sign saying "clean up of vomiting and diarrheal events" ... never seen that before EVER in an establishment. Sounds safe ... not lol. Now im worried 🤣 More than likely won't choose this place again. Not to mention their toilet SEATS dont even fit their toilets. I felt like a toddler lol.
This was our first time going here so we didn’t really know what to order. Our waitress gave us some recommendations so we tried all of her recommendations. We had the 57 pasta, the chicken Alfredo, the Philly, and the Sundae waffle. Tonight’s special was Salisbury steak so we got that to go for our family at home. We also got the breakfast shoe which I think was our favorite thing! We noticed they have a breakfast buffet on Saturdays and Sundays and we are so tempered to make the drive to try it out because tonight’s food and service were so good. Their bathroom was clean and smelled amazing. The atmosphere was clean and comfortable. They also have a pie and cake case with European cakes so we had to try those too! The price point was incredible and even my kids couldn’t believe the great prices. I can’t say enough how much we enjoyed the staff here who were on top of it and helped each other and made us feel so comfortable. The food came out fast and the portions were huge! This is now one of our favs!!!
Me and my mother have been wanting to eat at this place since first opened, we just never found the time but today we went and had a wonderful experience. The food was amazing, the staff and service was outstanding(friendly and warm conversation) I love the atmosphere that matches the very warm friendly staff and out standing filling food. I highly recommend
At first impression the place looked great. Atmosphere was awesome. The staff was friendly and prompt. The restrooms were not very clean esp on walls by the urinal. Fly’s were all over the restaurant. The food was good for my other party. For me it was not good. Asked for fresh fries and it was recooked and brought out after a minute. The coleslaw lacked flavor. The saving grace was the burger and chicken and rice. The place has great potential, the owner needs to focus on details to make the place succeed enormously. I will return one day and i hope it is better then. Update: 9/14 The restroom issue was addressed. 😊 Also the breakfast was great. It was buffet style however the food was very good.
This was my 1st time on Insterstate 70 West going to St Louis...we were hungry and pulled over to this little diner along the way.. the food was excellent and I mean excellent. The dessert options were good as well with over 9 types of fruit pies and several high pies like lemon meringue pie and several others..the only draw backs we had were the time and i get that...but the other was the way you pay..we didn't know they take credit card payments so they do have a atm inside if you need cash..or if you have a check they can take that or Venmo payments as well.
Always a great experience. All you can eat walleye with tow sides of your choice for $12.99!! I’m a fish snob and I can say it’s DELICIOUS!! The fried chicken is also top notch. (Easy access off/on the interstate)
Our first time here. Thrilled that there is another restaurant in Tuscola. My wife ordered the Greek pork chops, they were excellent. I got the all you can eat ribs. They were great. The place was busy since it was a Saturday night but we got seated and waited on right away. Very good food and service we will be back.
