3 months agoRather than being in New York I am an Englishman in South Texas. As I am a vegetarian finding food without meat has been nigh on impossible so far on this road trip. However Vernon's Café serves Chalupa which is veggie. And was delicious. I can't vouch for the meat meals but if the Chalupa is anything to go by they will be excellent. If you are local, or passing through I recommend a visit!

Edited 3 months agoOrdered Chicken Alfredo, they used spaghetti instead of Fettuccine or Linguine, spaghetti was over cooked and mushy and the Alfredo sauce was dry whereas should have been creamy, will not order that dish again unless they fix it...

4 months agoWhat a great visit here at Vernon's! We had never been and stopped on our way up to San Antonio. Our server Sandra was the sweetest and the food was so tasty. I had the hamburger steak and it was so delicious. My daughter has the banana loco pancakes. Over all great place! We will come again and try the pizza.

7 months agoChicken Fried Steak was really, really good seasoned just right. Pizza was delicious! Service is top notch. Definitely plan on stopping in again next time we travel down this way.

9 months agoMine and My Family’s Favorite Dinner Spot! Good pizza, fresh salad, good soup. The tea is my fav! The service is always on point. The atmosphere is always welcoming.

a year agoI loved the Hamburger Steak, it was so delicious! My grandpa was a bit sad that they ran out of chicken fried steak but him and i ate the Hamburger Steak up! My husband got the chicken alfredo and he loved it. My mama got the chicken tenders and they were good as well. The broccoli was a bit hard but they were still good. Our server, Kyla, was a doll. She made sure we were alright and one of the other ladies loved my son. Overall a 10/10!!

a year agoEverything you expect from a small town cafe at the highest level. The food tastes amazing and has tons of character... the fluffiest pancakes, hand pressed juicy burgers and home made style fries that made me feel like a kid at Nana's house. Service is friendly and welcoming. The wife was craving a BLT that was not on the menu but they whipped it up for her and it was delicious.
